Apple in mobile Manual

The revenue strengths of the iPhone handset include a double strategy that has arisen from the convergence of the handset with the iPod. By converging the entertainment function with the wireless connectivity of the mobile phone Apple is able to use the iPhone to drive the usage and purchase of content on iTunes. Through iTunes and the success of the iPod Apple is also able to drive the use of the iPhone by encouraging wireless downloads, breaking the consumer away from the fixed line PC and enhancing user experience on the iPhone.


The improvement of the user experience on the mobile web through the design of the screen and connectivity will also have a similar effect. The design of the handset offering the large touch screen will encourage more mobile subscribers to purchase the handset and to use the mobile web, driving revenue on this platform and driving the data usage which increases revenue for the mobile carriers and Apple. The improvement of the mobile web will also drive more subscribers towards mobile handset s with mobile web capabilities, therefore improvements on the mobile web and the iPhone handsets will drive usage and revenue for each other.

The subsidies gained by Apple through the sales of the iPhone have helped to keep the value of the Apple brand as well as provide strong revenue for Apple and the respective mobile carriers. By continuing with this pricing structure Apple risks alienating some of the mobile market but also keep s the value of the product and the brand strong in the market further guaranteeing revenues.
